Ronald Schuchard Prize


Ron Schuchard Rose LibraryThe Ronald Schuchard Prize was established through the Betsy and Wayne Rackoff Fund and named in honor of Dr. Wayne Rackoff's (75C) archival mentor, Ronald Schuchard, Goodrich C. White Professor Emeritus of English.

The Schuchard prize is awarded for the best paper, project, or honor's thesis created on the basis of primary source material from the Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library related to a class or course of study in the Department of English.  Students must submit both the final paper, project or thesis, as well as a 250-word description of how the Rose resources were utilized.  The Prize is open to students whose work was completed in the prior calendar year (e.g., Spring 2025 and Fall 2025 semesters for application this March) as well as any work completed in Spring 2026 before the deadline.

The Schuchard Prize will award $750 to the winning submission; there is also a $500 prize for a second-place award; and a $250 honorable mention reserved for a first-year student.
