Alanna PrincePostdoctoral Fellow

Alanna Prince is a Postdoctoral Fellow in Emory University's English Department. Her research explores how contemporary poets and artists explore their familial history and reinterpret archival material to create alternative narratives of chattel slavery in the Caribbean and the Americas. Her work is informed by Black feminist, postcolonial, and archival theories. She is currently working on her first book manuscript, The Long Collapse. 

Prince's teaching spans Black literature and culture from roughly early nineteenth century to present, as well as postcolonial literature, general poetry, and the broader twentieth/twenty-first century American canon. In 2022, she received the Outstanding Graduate Teaching Award from Northeastern University.
