Biography

Julian Currents is a Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow in Emory’s Writing Program. Their research and teaching focus on the evolving relationship between time, the environment, and the self in the context of anthropogenic climate collapse, and their work examines these shifting emotional landscapes through Caribbean literature, speculative fictions, ecocriticism, postcolonial critique, and the blue humanities. Julian’s scholarship on the conch shell’s significance in the symbolic ecologies of Caribbean women’s literature can be found in The Journal of Haitian Studies, and their creative works can be found in WUSSY Mag and Islandia Journal.
