Matheson Lang played Hamlet and Frederick Ross the ghost in Ernest Carpenter's production of the the play in 1909 at the Lyceum Theatre, London. Raymond Mander notes in Hamlet Through the Ages, the source of this picture, that in Act I, Scene v, as a special effect snow fell on the battlements of Elsinor as Hamlet spoke with the ghost of his father, the old King Hamlet (25).
