This is an artist's sketch of Act IV, Scene v, of Hamlet, Ophelia's mad scene. The play was produced by Johnston Forbes-Robertson, who played Hamlet. This scene, played in a garden with a realistically painted background, has Mrs. Patrick Campbell as Ophelia, H. Cooper Cliffe as Claudius, Charlotte Granville as Gertrude, and Bernard Gould as Laertes. The production played at the Lyceum Theatre, London, in 1897.
