Productions of Coriolanus

1901. Frank Benson's company gave ten performances of Coriolanus at the Comedy Theatre (London); the play ran from February 14-25 and Benson played Caius Marcius Coriolanus. The cast included Oscar Asche as Sicinius Velutus, Lilian Braithwaite as Virgilia, and Genevieve Ward as Volumnia (Wearing, 1901-9, I, 75-6).

1901. Henry Irving's production of Coriolanus played for 37 performances (April 15-July20) at the Lyceum Theatre in London. Irving played Coriolanus, with Ellen Terry as Volumnia, Mabel Hackney as Virgilia, and Laurence Irving as Junius Brutus (Wearing, 1901-9, I, 85).

1907. On April 22, Frank Benson opened the three-week Stratford-upon-Avon Shakespeare Festival with Coriolanus. Besides Love's Labor's Lost, his company performed ten other plays (Loney, I, 37).
